OpenAI Releases Tool to Verify AI-Generated Images

OpenAI has launched a public verification tool at openai.com/verify that detects watermarks and metadata in images created through ChatGPT and its API. The dual approach is deliberate: metadata can be stripped when files are converted, but pixel-level watermarks survive compression and cropping. The system moves image authentication from research into live production infrastructure.
