OpenAI Now Lets You Check If an AI Made an Image

OpenAI has released a free tool at openai.com/verify that can identify whether images were created by its AI systems. The tool looks for two types of digital signatures: embedded markers in the file itself, and a watermark woven into the image pixels. The second method survives if someone crops or compresses the image. OpenAI is moving this detection technology from experimental labs into everyday use.
