
Fall 2026 auctions target US$2 billion as new buyers chase Modernism
Around US$2 billion in art is expected to change hands across six weeks of the fall 2026 auction season, Artnet News reports. The run opened 1 September and closes at New York's November evening sales. A new generation of buyers is concentrating on 20th-century Modernist works, after Christie's, Sotheby's and Phillips combined for US$6.8 billion in first-half sales, up 70% year-on-year.
