Bayeux Tapestry returns to UK after nearly 1,000 years, on display at the British Museum September 2026 to July 2027
The Bayeux Tapestry, a near-70-metre embroidered cloth depicting the 1066 Battle of Hastings, has returned to the UK for the first time in almost a millennium under a historic loan agreement signed with France. It is on display at the British Museum's Sainsbury Exhibitions Gallery from September 2026 to July 2027. President Macron noted the first British request dated to 1931.
