Federal Judge Overturns Rapid Deportation of DACA Recipient

A federal judge ruled on March 23 that the deportation of María de Jesús Estrada Juárez was unlawful. The DACA recipient, detained during a green card interview in Sacramento in March 2026, was removed to Mexico within 24 hours without proper legal review. Estrada Juárez, a hotel manager who arrived in the U.S. in 1998, was caught in a gap between immigration enforcement and status processing systems.
