Federal Judge Overturns Rapid Deportation of Immigration Status Holder
A federal judge ruled unlawful the 24-hour deportation of María de Jesús Estrada Juárez, a DACA recipient—a protected immigration status—who was detained during a green card interview in Sacramento in March 2026. Estrada Juárez, who arrived in the U.S. in 1998 and works as a hotel manager, was deported to Mexico without proper legal review. The case exposed communication failures between immigration agencies.
