Federal Judge Voids DACA Recipient's 24-Hour Deportation
María de Jesús Estrada Juárez, a DACA recipient detained during a Sacramento green card interview in March 2026, was deported to Mexico within 24 hours. A federal judge ruled the removal unlawful on March 23. Estrada Juárez, who arrived in the U.S. in 1998, works as a hotel manager. The rapid deportation without proper legal review exposed gaps in inter-agency coordination between immigration enforcement and status adjustment processing systems.
