Justice Department pulls Times subpoenas after judge's sanction threat

The Justice Department withdrew subpoenas for New York Times reporters' testimony and phone records after Judge Arun Subramanian threatened July 23 to quash them and sanction federal attorneys for misleading the court. The subpoenas were filed July 10, two days after the Times reported Secret Service concerns about a $400 million Qatari jet gifted for Air Force One use.
