Samsara Uses Fleet Vehicle Sensors to Map Potholes Across U.S. Roads
Fleet management company Samsara has launched an AI platform that detects potholes using motion data from its existing commercial vehicle network, covering 99% of major U.S. roads without new hardware. Chicago is the first customer. The system ranks road damage by severity and progression, shifting cities from reactive 311 calls to planned maintenance. Potholes cost the U.S. over $750 million annually in repairs.
