Madison police shooting echoes 2015 Tony Robinson case

A Madison officer shot and killed a man in his 30s during an attempted arrest on Williamson Street on July 22, 2026 — the same street where Tony Robinson was fatally shot in 2015. Cellphone footage shows three officers pinning the man before three close-range shots. Wisconsin's DOJ (the state-level law enforcement oversight body) is investigating. Police say the suspect had a knife and injured an officer.
