House Passes $1.15 Trillion Defense Bill on Party-Line Vote

The House passed a $1.15 trillion defense authorization bill 216-212 on July 22, 2026. Nearly all Democrats opposed it over Trump's unauthorized Iran war and the Save America Act, which would ban mail-in ballots and impose new voter ID rules. Seven Republicans also broke ranks. The Senate blocked its version July 14, leaving no reconcilable path forward.
