Science Corporation's PRIMA retinal implant gets EU CE mark — first BCI to restore reading vision
Science Corporation has received CE mark approval to sell PRIMA, a retinal implant that restores form vision — including reading — to patients blinded by late-stage age-related macular degeneration. PRIMA pairs an implantable chip with camera-equipped glasses. It is the first brain-computer interface device to earn CE marking for form vision restoration. A first commercial procedure in Europe could occur as early as September 2026.
