WhatsApp iPad App Now Supports Standalone Registration

WhatsApp confirmed on July 22, 2026 that new users can register directly from the iPad app without first linking to a phone. A phone number and SMS one-time passcode are still required, but the iPad then runs as a standalone account rather than a companion device tethered to a primary phone.
