You Can Now Use WhatsApp on an iPad Without a Phone

WhatsApp said on July 22, 2026 that new users can sign up directly on an iPad without first connecting it to a phone. You still need a phone number and a texted code to get started, but the iPad then works on its own instead of relying on a phone to send messages.
