Australia Broadens Paid Placement Support to More Health Fields

At Labor's 2026 Adelaide conference, PM Albanese announced the Commonwealth Prac Payment — a weekly stipend for students on unpaid clinical placements — will extend to ten allied health fields, including clinical psychology, paramedicine, and pharmacy, from 1 July 2027. Students will receive up to $338.60 weekly, matching support already available to teaching and nursing students.
