Nearly 19,000 sign petition against Christchurch Council's extra $15m for cathedral rebuild

A Christchurch resident's petition opposing the council's extra $15m ratepayer contribution to the Christ Church Cathedral rebuild has drawn 18,650 signatures by 22 July. It also calls for the 7.35% rates rise to be revisited. The council declined to comment, saying it had not yet formally received the petition.
