Nearly 19,000 people sign petition against Christchurch Council's extra $15m for cathedral rebuild

A Christchurch man's petition against the council giving an extra $15 million of residents' rates money to the cathedral rebuild has gathered 18,650 signatures by 22 July. It also asks the council to rethink its 7.35% rates increase. The council would not comment, saying it had not yet officially received the petition.
