Treaty of Waitangi removed and reinstated twice during curriculum rewrite, ministry documents show

Education Ministry documents obtained by RNZ show the Treaty of Waitangi was removed and reinstated as an overarching principle of the curriculum rewrite at least twice between April and June 2024. Minister Erica Stanford signed a version with the Treaty on 19 April, then one without it on 30 April. Cabinet reinstated it on 4 June. The ministry later retracted its explanation for the omission.
