Treaty of Waitangi cut and reinstated twice in school curriculum rewrite, ministry documents show

Education Ministry documents obtained by RNZ show the Treaty of Waitangi was removed and reinstated as an overarching principle of the school curriculum rewrite at least twice between April and June 2024. Minister Erica Stanford signed a version including the Treaty on 19 April, then signed one omitting it on 30 April. Cabinet reinstated it on 4 June. The ministry later retracted its explanation for the omission.
