Airbus to test folding wings on A321neo, adapting Boeing's widebody idea for single-aisle jets

Airbus will test folding wingtips on a modified A321neo in late 2027, extending its wings by four to five metres. The extensions will be built at Airbus's Broughton factory in Wales. Boeing first used folding wingtips on its widebody 777X, but the concept has never reached single-aisle jets — the workhorses of global commercial fleets.
