Water Industry Warns UK Cannot Meet Datacentre Demand

Water UK told parliament on 21 July 2026 that Britain lacks enough water for planned datacentre growth. It called government forecasts "fatally flawed" for omitting datacentre demand from three AI policy documents and the Environment Agency's water resources framework. Over three-quarters of UK datacentres are in already water-stressed regions.
