UK Water Companies Say There Isn't Enough Water for Planned Computing Centres

On 21 July 2026, Water UK told parliament that Britain cannot supply enough water for the big computing centres — datacentres — that companies want to build. The group called government forecasts "fatally flawed" for leaving out this water demand from three AI policy plans and a national water report. Over three-quarters of these centres sit in areas already short of water.
