Miliband appointed Foreign Secretary in Burnham reshuffle

Ed Miliband has been appointed Foreign Secretary, telling reporters outside Downing Street it was "the honour of my life" (BBC, 20 July 2026). He moves from the Energy Security and Net Zero brief he has held since 2024 and has no prior frontbench foreign affairs experience. The appointment comes as Andy Burnham succeeds Sir Keir Starmer as Labour leader.
