Nearly Half of Republicans Now Tie Climate Change to Worse Heatwaves

A July 2026 Data for Progress poll found 48% of Republican likely voters say climate change worsens heatwaves — their highest attribution for any extreme weather event surveyed. Across all likely voters, 67% agreed. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said the data shows "the public is way ahead of the politicians."
