Nearly Half of Republican Voters Link Climate Change to Worsening Heatwaves

A July 2026 Data for Progress poll found 48% of Republican likely voters say climate change is worsening heatwaves — the highest Republican attribution for any extreme weather event surveyed. Overall, 67% of likely voters linked climate change to heatwaves. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said the data shows "the public is way ahead of the politicians."
