Officer wounded, suspect dead in Belleville synagogue shooting

Police say Sean Ward, 29, shot Const. Jeff Smith, stationed outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, Ont., during Yom Kippur services, then fired at a second officer. Smith is in hospital with wounds. Ward is dead. Ontario's Special Investigations Unit, the agency that reviews police shootings, is investigating.
