OpenAI, Anthropic chiefs bring AI risk warning to UN Security Council

Sam Altman of OpenAI and Dario Amodei of Anthropic spoke to the UN Security Council on September 23, 2026, during the 81st UN General Assembly. They said AI risks humanity and called for governments to work together on safety. My read: choosing that venue means they want AI handled as a global safety issue.
