Turkmenistan Fixes First Methane Leaks After UN Satellite Warnings

Turkmenistan, the world's top methane emitter, has repaired eight leaks from ageing oil and gas sites — its first confirmed fixes — after 192 UN satellite alerts in a year. Methane traps 80 times more heat than CO₂ and drives 25% of global warming. The US got 138 alerts but fixed none; Iran, Russia, and China ignored all notifications.
