World's Biggest Methane Leaker Makes First Repairs After Satellite Warnings

Turkmenistan, the country leaking the most methane, has fixed eight leaks from old oil and gas sites — its first confirmed repairs — after 192 satellite warnings in a year. Methane is a gas that traps 80 times more heat than CO₂ and causes a quarter of global warming. The US got 138 warnings but fixed none; Iran, Russia, and China ignored them all.
