Turkmenistan Repairs First Methane Leaks After UN Satellite Alerts

Turkmenistan, the world's worst methane super-emitter, has repaired eight leaks from ageing oil and gas facilities — its first confirmed fixes — following 192 UN satellite alerts over the past year. Methane traps 80 times more heat than CO₂ and drives 25% of global heating. The US received 138 alerts but fixed none; Iran, Russia, and China ignored all notifications.
