NASA's Roman Space Telescope Begins Mission to Map Billions of Galaxies

NASA launched the $4.3 billion Roman Space Telescope on August 30, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy. Its field of view surpasses Hubble's by 100-fold, enabling a survey of over 2 billion galaxies. Roman will investigate dark matter and dark energy — together roughly 95 percent of the universe's contents yet poorly understood. It is now en route to Lagrange Point 2.
