NZ First to campaign on scrapping regional councils

NZ First deputy Shane Jones told about 130 people at a Lower Hutt church on 30 August 2026 that the party will campaign on abolishing regional councils. He said National's approach to reorganising them never had NZ First's backing and voters should decide the mandate at the election.
