Catamaran Capsizes Off Northern Cyprus: 159 Rescued, Over 100 Missing

A catamaran — a twin-hulled boat — carrying about 270–279 people capsized four miles off Kyrenia, northern Cyprus, on August 30, 2026, after taking on water. Mayor Murat Senkul told CNN Turk that 159 people had been reached and called the situation "very serious." Over 100 remain unaccounted for as the search continues.
