Boat Overturns Near Cyprus: Over 100 People Still Missing

A large two-hulled boat carrying about 270–279 people overturned four miles off Kyrenia, northern Cyprus, on August 30, 2026, after filling with water. Mayor Murat Senkul told CNN Turk that rescuers had reached 159 people and called the situation "very serious." More than 100 remain missing as the search goes on.
