ACT floats national 10-shellfish bag limit and scallop dredging ban in closed areas
ACT wants a nationwide daily limit of 10 shellfish where no species-specific cap exists, and an end to scallop dredging in fisheries already closed to it. The policy is part of its 2026 election platform. Conservation spokesperson Cameron Luxton said a healthy marine environment was "the foundation of a successful fishing industry." Higher infringement fees are also proposed.
