ACT proposes nationwide 10-shellfish daily bag limit and end to scallop dredging in closed fisheries

ACT has proposed a nationwide daily bag limit of 10 shellfish for species without an existing individual limit, and an end to scallop dredging in currently closed fisheries, as part of its 2026 election platform. The party also wants higher infringement fees. Conservation spokesperson Cameron Luxton said a healthy marine environment was "the foundation of a successful fishing industry."
