ACT proposes 10-shellfish-a-day limit and ban on scallop dredging in closed areas
ACT wants a national rule letting each person take up to 10 shellfish a day where no limit already exists. It also wants to stop scallop dredging — dragging a metal net along the seafloor — in areas already closed to it. The party's conservation spokesperson, Cameron Luxton, said healthy seas underpin a successful fishing industry. Higher fines are also proposed.
