Ecuador's Moreno Gets Five Years for Hydroelectric Bribery
An Ecuadorian court sentenced former President Lenin Moreno, 73, to five years in prison and a permanent ban on public office for bribery linked to the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric plant. Prosecutors said China's state-owned Sinohydro paid about $76.1 million in bribes from 2009 to 2018. Moreno denies involvement and may appeal.
