Aldi closing in on Asda's third-place UK grocery market share

Asda posted its first quarterly sales growth in over two years — a marginal 0.2% rise — but Aldi now trails by less than one percentage point in UK market share and is expanding faster. Whether Asda's turnaround under executive chair Allan Leighton can accelerate before Aldi overtakes it outright will decide who holds third place.
