Aldi within one point of overtaking Asda as UK's third-largest grocer

Asda posted its first quarterly sales growth in over two years — a marginal 0.2% rise — but Aldi sits less than one percentage point behind in UK market share and is growing faster. The gap between retaining third place and losing it now hinges on whether Asda's turnaround under executive chair Allan Leighton can accelerate before Aldi overtakes it outright.
