Iwi hold veto over military launches from Kaitorete spaceport

The Crown-iwi spaceport venture Tāwhaki has a 50/50 board split. Any launch with both civilian and military uses must be approved by both sides. Wairewa rūnanga chair Dr Matiu Prebble said the rūnanga will not support any kinetic military use, giving iwi effective veto power over foreign military access.
