Coalition voters back public health measures their government scrapped, survey finds

A Cancer Society-funded survey of 1600 New Zealanders found strong cross-party support — including among coalition voters — for tobacco reforms, a sugary drinks tax and stricter alcohol laws. Lead researcher Professor Louise Signal said the level of consensus surprised researchers. All are measures the current government has rolled back or chosen not to pursue.
