Coalition voters back public health measures their government rolled back, survey finds

A Cancer Society-funded survey of 1600 New Zealanders found strong cross-party support — including among coalition voters — for reinstating tobacco reforms, sugary drinks taxes and stricter alcohol laws. Lead researcher Professor Louise Signal said researchers were surprised at the extent of consensus. All are measures the current government has rolled back or declined to pursue.
