Voters back health rules their own government dropped, survey finds

A survey of 1600 New Zealanders, funded by the Cancer Society, found wide support across all parties for bringing back tobacco reforms, taxing sugary drinks and tightening alcohol laws. That included people who voted for the current government, which has scrapped or declined to pursue those measures. Lead researcher Professor Louise Signal said the agreement surprised the team.
