Scottish Information Commissioner to ask UK Supreme Court to rule on legal privilege in FOI cases

Scotland's Information Commissioner, David Hamilton, wants the UK Supreme Court to hear his case after the Court of Session overturned his order to release documents from the inquiry that cleared Nicola Sturgeon of breaching the ministerial code. Hamilton said the ruling makes legally privileged material too hard to get through freedom-of-information requests. A Supreme Court decision would bind all bodies under Scotland's FOI regime.
