Trade deal still possible, LeBlanc says, but no talks active as U.S. tariffs hold

Federal minister Dominic LeBlanc says a trade deal remains possible after the U.S. confirmed it won't challenge French-language and culture policies. But U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says no channels are open between the two countries and warned Ottawa against planned retaliatory tariffs. Fifty-per-cent U.S. tariffs on about $28 billion in Canadian goods remain in force.
