Fast Heist Strips Spain's Bronze Age Treasure of Villena

Thieves smashed through a Villena Museum window in Alicante on 27 August 2026 and seized 66 mostly gold objects — about 10 kilograms — from the Treasure of Villena, Europe's most important prehistoric hoard. Dating to roughly 1000 BC and found in 1963, the collection had been displayed since May 2024. A council spokesperson called the raid "super-fast and super-professional."
