Tanzania's Vice-President Nchimbi to Resign After Party Expulsion — a Historic First
Tanzania's Vice-President Emmanuel Nchimbi will leave office September 4, 2026, after the ruling CCM party expelled him for indiscipline. He is the first vice-president to step down in Tanzania's history. Nchimbi, 54, served less than ten months following a disputed election he won with 98% of the vote. Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi, 43, was nominated to replace him.
