Tanzania's Vice-President Nchimbi Resigns After CCM Expulsion — A First in the Nation's History

Tanzania's Vice-President Emmanuel Nchimbi will leave office September 4, 2026, after being expelled from the ruling CCM party for indiscipline. Nchimbi, 54, served less than ten months following a disputed election won with 98% of the vote. He is the first vice-president to step down in Tanzania's history. Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi, 43, was nominated to replace him.
