Labour rules out fuel excise rise for full term if elected

Labour leader Chris Hipkins says a Labour government would not increase fuel excise for a full parliamentary term. Fuel excise — the per-litre tax on petrol and diesel — is set to rise 12 cents from January, pending a Cabinet decision by 31 August. Transport Minister Chris Bishop called the pledge "irresponsible."
